1945 Bob Marley is born Robert Nesta Marley to 18-year-old Cedella and Captain Norval Sinclair Marley at c. 2:30 a.m. in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica.

Almost all sources say he is born on this day, but it is listed as April 6, 1945 on his passport.

1948 William "Bunny Rugs" Clarke [Third World; vocals/guitars] is born in Mandeville in the Jamaican parish of Manchester.

1980 Bob Marley gives his 35th birthday party of his own accord in Kingston. It is his last birthday in his native Jamaica.

1981 Bob Marley's 36th and last birthday

Junior Marvin, Seeco Patterson and Tyrone Downie hosted a little birthday party for Bob in his quarters at the Ringberg Clinic.

1989 A great dub master Osbourne Ruddock a.k.a. King Tubby passes away.

A lone gunman murdered Tubby, the motive apparently robbery, at about 1 a.m. when Tubby returned his home at 85 Sherlock Crescent, Duhaney Park in the Parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica, put his car into the garage and was about to close the gate. (Age 48).

1995 The late Bob Marley's 50th birthday concert is held at the Bob Marley museum at 56 Hope Road, Kingston, Jamaica.

2,500 people gathered the place. The concert started 8 p.m. Ras Michael & Sons of Negus, Judy Mowatt, Vanessa Williams, Toots Hibbert, Tony Rebel, Mystic Revealers, Third World, Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers, The Wailers and I-Three performed in the five hours. Tommy Cowan acted as MC.

A morning service celebrating Bob Marley's birthday is also held at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church from sunrise on this day. "Rastaman Chant" on Nyahbinghi echo in the church.

2004 Singer Simple Simon passes away following a long battle with cancer of the oesophagus, (Age 48).

1962 Jamaica signs agreement to become independent.

1965 The case which Don Drummond killed his common-law wife Marguerita on January 2nd comes to trial at the Sutton Street courtroom.

Drummond would be sent to the mental ward of Bellevue Hospital on Windward Road.

19XX After six months of rehearsals, UB40 debuts at the Horse and Hounds in King's Heath, Birmingham, sharing the bill with another new local band, the Au Pairs.

1989 A memorial dance for a great dub master Osbourne Ruddock a.k.a. King Tubby (d. February 6) is held at front of King Tubbys Studio from 8 p.m. through following morning by King Jammy, a disciple of King Tubby. Admiral Bailey, Tinga Stewart and others join in.

2000 Legendary calypsonian Lord Kitchener (Aldwyn Roberts) passes away at 10:45 a.m. at the Mount Hope Hospital in Port of Spain, Trinidad, (Age 77).

1972 Frisco Kid (Steve Wray) is born in Western Kingston, Jamaica.

1975 Stevie Face (Anwar Hanchard) is born at Princess Margaret Hospital, St. Thomas, Jamaica.

1989 Funeral for the great dub master Osbourne Ruddock aka King Tubby, passed away February 6th, is held.

His family, many engineers and producers who have learned from King Tubby and 3,500 people attend the funeral in the rain.

2004 Paul Tyrell, a 32-year-old employee of Shocking Vibes Production, is shot dead in Kingston. Beenie Man collapsed on the sidewalk near the scene of Tyrell's murder.

1993 Jamaica's tabloid newspaper X-NEWS makes its first appearance. Most of the editorial staff are former staff of The Weekend Enquire which went out of existence.

1976 Kymani Marley is born in Jamaica to Bob and former tennis star Anita Belnavis.

1978 Bob Marley returns to Jamaica for the first time after the alleged assassination attempt on his life, December 3, 1976.

An Air Jamaica flight carrying Bob Marley touched down at Norman Manley Airport in Kingston at few minutes before 5:00 p.m. Approximately two thousands of fan were there to greet him. Several hours later, Bob has opened informal free session at the National Heroes Circle Stadium.

1983 "Pass The Dutchie" by Musical Youth peaks at #10 on the Billboard pop singles chart.

2003 Deejay Scotty (Derrick Scott) dies from prostate cancer at the Lord's Place nursing home in Kingston. He was 52 years-old.

1968 H.I.M. Haile Selassie I makes a speech in California. It is quoted into "War" by Bob Marley.

1956 Lincoln Valentine 'Style' Scott (Roots Radics/Dub Syndicate; drums) is born in Chapelton, Jamaica.

1972 PNP (People's National Party) led by Michael Manley wins the general election and ends ten years of JLP (Jamaican Labour Party) rule in Jamaica.

1980 Mr. Peppa (Arael Jahzeal Walters) is born in Kingston, Jamaica.
